Why Your Business Needs a Commercial Air Purifier

As a business owner, there’s so much you need to manage to make your space clean and safe. This includes everything from making sure the space is kept clean and sanitized, to maintaining a comfortable temperature with heating and AC systems. All of these things will make employees and customers happier, healthier, and willing to spend more time in your establishment.

But what about the air that your employees and customers are breathing? While you might be able to avoid touching a dirty bathroom floor, it’s impossible to avoid breathing, even if the air might be contaminated. A commercial air purifier in Navarre, FL can make a huge difference to your business. Here are some things that you should know.

Filtration Vs. Purification

Your air conditioner and heating system have air filters built into them. (We hope you’ve been changing them regularly!) These filters are not actually designed to benefit people and the air that they breathe. They’re designed to prevent contaminants from making their way into those systems and damaging their inner workings.

Air filtration systems intended to improve air quality are a separate entity. These can be added to your HVAC system to ensure that more of the particles are removed before the air passes through your vents and is breathed in. These can do an admirable job of trapping larger particles and fibers and reducing the amount of dust floating around the space.

Air purifiers take things one step further. They include a filter, but there’s a secondary system in place to catch the smallest particles that pass through it. Electronic air cleaners charge the air that passes through them, and thus the tiny particles. As the air keeps flowing, it passes a metal plate with an opposite charge. The particles cling to the plate like a sock stuck to a fleece blanket in a staticky load of laundry.

What Those Small Particles Are

Viruses are some of the tiniest particles and can be just one-twentieth the size of the smallest bacteria. Particles from wildfire smoke, and volatile organic chemicals from cleaning products, industry, or vehicle exhaust can also be extremely small. Tinier particles can work their way deeper into a person’s respiratory system, causing a greater likelihood of serious illness.

Workplace Impacts

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 7.8 million workers took time off in January 2021 for medical reasons. Sick workers have a huge financial impact on business owners, and keeping employees healthy will keep your business—and your bottom line—healthy as well.

After the installation of an air purifier, people report fewer respiratory and allergy symptoms and fewer asthma attacks. They’re less likely to have headaches, and they have more energy and improved moods. Critically for a business, they are less likely to take time off work due to illness.
